Once I developed methods to deal with its idiosyncracies it went ok, but hat took about two days. The small flanges and tabs that 'click' into each other are EXTREMELY flimsy and break off ALOT. Some of the pieces then get caught in the tongues and grooves, where you don't notice them. Then, when you go to 'snap' them together, they don't meet properly. At first I didn't understand what the hell was going on.

Very frustrating! I put click and snap in quotes above because that is what you wish would actually happen, but doesn't. BTW, I installed an Armstrong floor in another room, and that is what happens: snap/click.

Once I started to understand the residue-flimsy issue, I started examining the pieces and if I found a fragment I would remove it. Realized I also needed to treat the stuff very gently. Once the fragments were cleared (good thing they are proud of the fact that it's made in the USA. Embarrassing for me however), I slid the groove into the tongue at a highly elevated angle to the floor using a lot of pressure.

Sliding back and forth a few times to get good contact. I then slid it all the way up to meet the long side of the adjoining piece and lowered it to meet the floor. I noticed that when done this way, the long side tongue will actually click with the groove. If it does not there is a problem. I found out about 1/3 of the way through a 650 sq ft floor that if I take a small piece of 2X4 and tap it against each piece as I go they meet much better. You can actually see a small shift and tightening when you do this.

If there is no shift they either went in perfectly (50%) or something is not laying perfectly (50%) As a side note, the one thing I find comedic with the whole laminate thing is how they will obviously go through great lengths to imitate real wood, then give you about 6-7 different patterned pieces. On my floor each patterned piece appears over 25 times! 'Wow.this floor looks like real.oh wait.' 'Yes, it is real, the tree from which it was milled was a family of sextuplets.' The ONE good thing about the floor is that it appears to be highly durable.we'll see. This floor instruction requires you complete a row before connecting with the next row.I nightmare to say the least. It recommends using wedges to help.Please.it take a least 3 people installing a 15' section. You can not assemble one section at a time.
